PREPARING YOUR BOOK FILES FOR PRINT

Careful file preparation protects image quality, typography, trim and page sequence. BookArt reviews production files as part of the proofing process, but the designer or client remains responsible for the supplied artwork and requested corrections.

IMAGE RESOLUTION

BookArt stipulates a minimum image resolution of 300 dpi to preserve reproduction quality. Effective resolution should be checked at the final placed size, not only in the original image file.

COLOUR AND CORRECTIONS

BookArt does not individually colour-correct supplied files. Physical proofs allow the client or designer to evaluate reproduction and make page-level adjustments. For digital printing, blanket adjustments may be available when brightness or colour needs to shift across the complete print file.

PAGE FILES

Supply a single-page PDF rather than reader spreads unless a BookArt representative provides different project-specific instructions. Page-count multiples depend on the selected binding: current guidance is multiples of four for section-sewn case binding and multiples of two for PUR-bound hardcover and perfect-bound softcover.

PROOF OPTIONS

• Digital PDF proof for content, sequence and basic file review

• Printed sheet proof for evaluating print reproduction on a physical sheet

• Fully bound proof for evaluating the assembled object

No project proceeds to production until the relevant proof has been approved. After approval, the production and delivery schedule is confirmed with the representative.
